Things looked just fine on Cloverleaf at first but seemed awfully slow. When I tried to enter “hciconnstatus” nothing was returned after almost one minute so I cancelled out of it. I tried looking at the logs and everything looked fine. Lock manager and monitor daemon were running and records seemed to be crossing okay. But we couldn’t connect any lab threads, and when I looked at latency times on a couple of threads they were ridiculously large. We decided to reboot the server but when I entered the logoff command, it just hung there. I ended up powering the server off manually.
When it came back up, the first process I tried to start came up for a second and then went down in a panic. I tried starting it again and it came up fine. All other processes came up fine the first time I started them, and everything was back to normal.
We only have one site, which has a total of 6 processes. Nothing fancy or extreme in our setup. And since it was during the night/early morning hours that we had been down, there were hardly any records to be processed.
We were just wondering if anyone else has made a core change like this, and if so, did you have any issues with your AIX servers?
