      Greetings Cloverleafers!!!

I am not clear of the difference btw low/high level ack. If I got this reply in my ob thread, is it a High level application ack? Then what’s the low level one? Any diff btw them?

      Thanks!

      Sam

          Hi,

I can never remember the details but the MSH/MSA ACK is high level in that it is in either the application or session level of the OSI model. A low level ACK is in the lower level of the OSI model (transport?) so you don’t normally see this in the EO output.

Quick question to other Clovertechers – can EO Config be set to trace at this lower level

          Regards

          Garry

I do not believe EO can be see the low level on certainly TCP/IP nor SNA.  There are operating system level traces which can be used.

But let me say that I have been able to resolve most issues regarding protocols I encounter with what I see in the logs.

The few times an iptrace or sna trace were required, the OS and network folks needed to be involved and I just let them have at it. In most of those cases, the theory I developed from information in Cloverleaf’s logs were simply proved to be correct by the other traces.
