xrel_post

A few years ago, and then again recently, we have experienced problems with xrel_post’s flooding our system.  I obtained some information on the list serve indicating that some sites have circumvented this issue by changing their “hcixlatenotify” script to a dummy script (just exit 0).  We never implemented this change here, however I am interested to know what the ramifications of making this change might be?  Is anyone else experiencing this same issue?  And if so, what have you been able to do about this?
