PANIC: assertion ‘server_on_this_host((ite)->hostName)’ failed at iclClient.cpp/

We had moved one of our production sites due to hardware problems, off one machine to our test machine.  They are the same level of QDX and same OS level, that being AIX 4.3.3 and QDX 5.2.1 rev2.  We got the PANIC you see above.  We had to back out the move and so we are at risk on the problem machine.  Anyone see this before?  We got a “enable all” listing with one of the PANIC’ed processes if anyone is interested.  I could attach the log.

Did you move the databases/ directory and all?  My guess is you will need to initialize the ICL database:

          hcidbinit -i -c

The threads register the host they are running on in this DB, if they suddenly show up on another box you may get an error like the one you posted.

We have cut over twice in the past week to our other production site and this was not a problem.  It was only a problem when we attempted to bring this up on our test node.  Were we just lucky?  Or should this happen everytime we move a site from one host to another host and have not initialed the ICL database?

Not sure if this was the problem or not.

I will say this, if you move a databases/ directory from one host to another, it is good practice to initialize the ICL database and “clean control files”.
