We are running 3.8.1 on AIX 5.1. We have four productions sites.

Our operators monitor Cloverleaf using Network Monitor. They have three network monitors on one (windows) PC and the fourth monitor on a second (windows) PC.

Is this how other folks operate? Are there any issues with sharing PC resources between several monitors?

          Kathy,

I do the same thing on my PC that I also use for development.  As long as you have enough resources on a decent PC, then you should be able to run the multiple sessions.  For the operators who only use the GUI then you should be OK….you might also want to look at the video cards that handle multiple monitors…..

We currently have 13 production sites and it would be very difficult to have that many monitors running.  We are using a “Global Monitoring” system that was written in house.  Our OPS people use a web page that only displays the threads (in a table format) that have data flowing through them.  This web page also allows the OPS personal to stop and start threads (not processes).

Hope this gives you some information.

We also solely use a web-based monitoring solution.  Due to the number of interfaces we have we do not actively monitor, instead we rely on alerts to notify us of situations and view them through the web front-end.  Currently, we use Quovadx’s Global Monitor for general information and an in-house developed web application to handle more complex issues.

The web-based solution was important for us since we have a large support group that is not Cloverleaf trained which provides our level 1 support.  Additionally, this removed the gui installation requirement for these users.

              thanks,

              Jonathan
