      Can someone explain this field to me?  Output shows this is a required field.

            This is used for length-encoded TCP/IP connections, which are a very rare thing nowadays.

            It specifies the fill character for the ASCII length encoded portion.  Usually, you would want 0 (zero) here.

            If you are doing an HL7 interface, you’ll want to use the Encapsulated option.
