Java and Cloverleaf

We’ve been informed that since Oracle has changed the licensing terms for Java SE/JRE/SDK (now charging per device), we need to look at alternatives for Java. Has anybody had any experience with using the product by Amazon called Corretto? Is this compatible with Cloverleaf?

I’m not really sure how much Java plays into using Cloverleaf besides the option to use Java in the UPOCs (which we don’t).

  If not, would a scripting language work such as TCL?

  Cloverleaf 6.2.4 (and above) and Cloverleaf 19.1.0.1 (and above) ship with OpenJDK instead of Oracle Java. Suggest you move to one of these releases if you want to be running a freely supported version of Java.
  
  We have not certified Corretto but we do plan to move from OpenJDK to Corretto at some point in the future.

  Thanks Rob. We are on 6.1.1 but were planning on upgrading this year. It may be sooner rather than later.

  I should also have answered your question about use of Java in Cloverleaf. Note that Java is used for a lot of things in Cloverleaf – the IDE, the host server, web services adapter, and database protocol to name a few. So it’s a lot more than just UPoC or Java Driver.
  
  Also, I would suggest that if you do upgrade, you go to 19.1 to be on the most current release. 6.2 is currently supported but will drop from official support when 20.1 comes out late this year.

  In addition to using OpenJDK as the alternative, is there any plans to be compatible with Amazon Corretto or Zulu?
